Petition to release State land
Petition to release State land
There is a regional requirement for more than 1000 homes for SAN personnel, SANDF personnel, Government employees and disadvantaged citizens of the country in the Southern Peninsula.
The majority of these citizens are currently renting accommodation and commuting from areas on the urban periphery. Thereby placing a burden on infrastructure and denying opportunities for security of tenure and value creation.
To address this need we have raised a petition with over 600 signatures representing over 1000 persons.
We have identified “green field” and “brown-field” urban land availability which may cater for the requirement.
The key principles we are proposing are the following.
The alienation of land at a reduced cost by the state to meet the requirement for affordable housing.
The provision of development capital and mortgage financing by the private sector.
Accessing government housing subsidies to assist with affordability.
Job creation and self sustainability.
Our petition requests consideration of a Memorandum of Understanding with central government to support this initiative.
Which may allow for the following.
1 Support by government of the principles as listed above.
2. Submission of identified erven to government for consideration.
3. The establishment of the necessary working groups to facilitate agreement on the alienation of the identified erven.
4. Consideration in achieving agreement so we may fast track this initiative in early Q1 2021 and rapidly delivering results.
